Traders switch to gold Review posted: 2008-09-16
telegraph.co.uk — Crude oil fell to a seven month low as traders switched into cash and gold amid growing concerns about the worsening economic climate. In London yesterday morning, Brent crude for October delivery fell as low as £91.16 per barrel, down over $6 on Friday's closing price and the lowest since February. Cash has been very volatile and the stockmarket has really been in a tailspin with the dowjpnes loosing 500 points yesterday and the ftse about 300 points. Yesterdays biggest stock looser was hbos ans today hbos has fallen again, hitting as low ad £1.80, quite a contrast to 12 months ago when they where trading at £8.00 a share. With Aig insurance going into administration, the us markets may not look to good when the bell rings, but possibly may recover some ground, because yesterdays 500 point loss, was quite dramatic. The ftse is nearly at the 5000 support level (only 80 points away) and after that we may see 4500 (hope not)
why crude oil has collapsed Review posted: 2008-09-16
Oil prices plummeted Tuesday in Asia, falling briefly below $92 a barrel as investors feared the U.S. credit crisis that brought down brokerage giant Lehman Brothers will drag on global economic growth and restrain demand for crude oil
Crude and brent oil futures down to $92 Review posted: 2008-09-16
Looks like oil is tanking at such an unbelievable rate. Just 2 months ago talks of oil hitting $200 a barrel from its high of $146 and now look at the price of oil. Even if opec would threaten to cut oil supplies we would still see only a short spike and then a continued downward trend
Crude and brent oil futures down on gloom Review posted: 2008-09-15
Even with the latest shocking stock market news that Lehmans went pop, dragging the stock markets across the worls plummeting, ftse down with banking stocks dropping as low as 30% for eg hbos, oil which would normally be called a defensive commodity crashed to $96.00. The message this sends to investors is that oil is not a defensive commoditiy, because as the economy goes into rebound less oil is in use. As I predicted just a few days ago that oil has further to go, I think oil still has alot further to go
Crude and brent oil futures down Review posted: 2008-09-14
Crude oil and brent oil futures fell to a five-month low and gasoline futures dropped amid signs that refineries along the Gulf of Mexico coast will soon resume operation. Crude oil fell to $99 a barrel

reason for oil price crash Review posted: 2008-09-10
The results from OPEC's meeting in Vienna are in: the oil producing cartel has left official quotas unchanged, but made a plea to its more generous members to stop overproducing. That pretty much leaves oil prices hanging in the balance. Which means that there will be an oversupply of oil in the current gloomy climate which should result in a further price crash of oil futures
We are entering recession Review posted: 2008-09-10
The UK, Germany and Spain will fall into recession in 2008, the European Commission has predicted. Brussels said the three countries would see two negative quarters of economic growth in a row, which is the technical definition of a recession. In its latest economic forecast, the commission also downgraded its outlook for eurozone growth again.

crude oil futures drop again Review posted: 2008-09-02
crude oil futures has absolutley crashed. The drop in price for cruse oil is due to the little damage caused by the hurricane, thank g-d and back to reality of a disastarous economy. Crude oil price futures crashed to $105.00. With the crude oil price dropping, we may be able to see less airlines going bust. Most airlines hedge their oil prices, so I imagine airlines will be pretty excited at the sudden downturn in oil price futures
crude oil futures crash Review posted: 2008-09-01
crude oil futures crashed today as the severity of the hurricane seemed to have passed. oil futures had been climbing steadily but the oil futures look as if they are going into rebound along with the economy. Crude oil futures crashed to $111.00

Crude oil and gas prices Review posted: 2008-08-28
Did you know that crude oil makes petrol. Hey but its not thst simple, crude oil makes Bitumin (which makes plastic & tar) then there is a thick stuff that airlines use, then diesel and then petrol. So there are 4 qualities in crude oil
Brokers suprised by oil price retreat Review posted: 2008-08-28
Brokers where suprised that oil prices rose today and then fell back to $115 a barrel, considering the hurrican gustav is on its way. It may be, speculators are hoping that the american goverment will open up its oil reserves
Whats the fuss, what has hurricane gustav got to do with oil price rise Review posted: 2008-08-28
What has hurrican gistav got to do with the rise in oil prices? Well there are 4000 oil and gas rigs in gustav path There are dozens of oil rigs in gustav path. If they get damaged it will take months to repair, which will lead to a shortage of oil
oil rises as hurricane draws near Review posted: 2008-08-26
Oil prices rose $1.60 hitting $116 a barrel as the hurricane draws near. Chron.com reported the following Oil prices spiked briefly Tuesday and traded higher throughout the day after Gustav developed south of Haiti and the National Hurricane Center predicted it will gather strength over the Gulf's warmer-than-usual waters. It could enter the U.S. Gulf as a major storm this weekend. The storm was "still a long way from oil and gas infrastructure, but gas traders will be keenly focused on direction/magnitude of this summer's first storm to potentially impact energy markets," securities firm Tudor Pickering Holt & Co. said in a note to clients Tuesday morning. Gustav struck Haiti and meteorologists said the storm could become "extremely dangerous" even before it reaches the Gulf. The hurricane roared over Haiti with top sustained winds near 90 mph at about 1 p.m. EDT, about 40 miles from the capital of Port-au-Prince.
oil price rise due to huricane gustav Review posted: 2008-08-25
Oil prices ended slightly higher Monday, edging back above $115 a barrel after Tropical Storm Gustav formed in the Caribbean. The rise is really nothing to care for, even with all the rumors of the huricanes the oil price didnt move that much
will oil prices rise again Review posted: 2008-08-24
We are at the end of the summer when the traditiona oil price is normally at its highest due to consumers filling uo their cars for the summer holiday season. Oil prices have dropped, the next surge in fuel will be December January when heating is used across the modern world. Until then their is no valid reason why oil prices should rise and on the contrary should fall unless some bad news emerges in the oil producing countries. What happens now is all speculative, and I expect oil prices to continue falling with speculators who have bought oil commodities long, will sell out to cut losses, which will help the spiralling down of the oil price. Whether that happens or not is a wil guess, but I think its more likely than not.
petrol largest decline Review posted: 2008-08-23
according to boston.com 'NEW YORK - Crude oil fell more than $6 a barrel yesterday, dropping the most in percentage terms since December 2004, as the US dollar strengthened and BP PLC restored shipments on a Caspian Sea pipeline through Turkey.'
oil price crashes Review posted: 2008-08-23
Oil prices crashed today. Does anyone know the reason for it. Well we are back to below $115.00. Its interesting that we have crashed becaused opec had said they will start cutting off supplies to 'boost' the oil price. Nice that they didnt do much when it was rising. ANyhow with russia and georgia, Israel & Iran and with opec threatening to cut supplies, oil has still crashed. Looks like a bad omen for the economy it shows where the economy is heading, but its good for us as users, maybe we will see basic commodties coming down now that oil proces are coming down. In theory biodiesel wont be needed so farmers wont get paid to grow bio diesel crop and go back to planting rice and wheat which the world needs.
petrol going to rise Review posted: 2008-08-21
oil went up by $4 today. I wander how long it will take for filling stations to put up the price. They always seem to increase the price straight away but take ages to reduce the petrol prices
